Online Dating.

I have to ask... because I am so out of the loop... is online dating now a pretty standard acceptable thing? I have been going through MySpace and looking at people's profiles and I find a LOT of people seem to have the "dating/relationship" option in their profiles... so have things changed from 5 years ago when this was a hush-hush OMG you met ONLINE?? thing...

Just curious. Anyone had any luck? Bad luck?

Kyla has a cold... and she's walking like a champ. It's so fun to see her walking across the kitchen...

I gotta go watch my show!

:)

Hey your little girl is so cute. Well the online dating thing doesn't phase many people anymore as people are now actually using it to get a relationship and not just to date. Being from NY online dating was no big whoop but here in the south it is still taboo at least to the typical southerner. I've had more luck then bad in my online experience.

Worst Online Date: When I was in NY I was part of this online site and you could custom your page similar to a Blog. Well someone contacted me and she seemed prettu decent, recently divorced and was looking to just meet people, not rushing into anything. After a week or so of chatting we decided to meet for dinner. She lived in the Bronx near Yankee stadium. So I get dressed up and head over to pick her up. and there she was . . . Wearing an Alonzo Morning Miami Heat Jersey and Spandex with her hair slicked back in a poney tail. I couldn't believe it! so I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and proceeded with the date. We went to a restaurant where everyone was looking at us because we do not match. We sat down and had dinner where the whole conversation was a therapy session. She talked about the whole divorce thing and how they are fighting over the kids (She had 5!) and she would get upset. After the date I dropped her off and went home thinking about how much that date sucked.

Other than that I've been fortunate to meet really great people online weither it lasted one date or a month.
Unfortunatly I met my girlfriend off line at the gym she works at. Reminding me that there is still the old fashion way to meet people.

Happy Hunting.

I've had mostly bad luck with the online dating scene, but as for your question of whether it's more mainstream now, I think it is. There isn't nearly as much of a stigma attached to it as there once was. It's actually almost MORE acceptable to say you met someone online than at a bar... but some people are still uber-sketchy so be careful! I've had mostly boring blind dates from online meetings. (Mostly Craig's list, but also some okcupid.) I went to a wedding in August where it was a jdate wedding. I knew the groom from college. Three of the bride's bridesmaids went to high school with me, and I'd never met HER before! Small world.

I met my husband on match.com -- we started dating in Dec 2002 and just got married last October.

At first I didn't want to do it because of the stigma, but when I got to the point where I was thinking the only way I'd meet someone was if I got in a car accident on my way to/from work, I knew I had to do something!

Just like if you went to a bar, there are losers online too, but there are some good catches as well.

Good luck and have fun with it!
